Comprehensive Prenatal Care

• Prenatal visits are usually made at the client's home.  Visits are made every 3 weeks until the eighth month, then every 2 weeks, then weekly until the baby is born. 
• During these visits the health of the mother and fetus are assessed.  This is accomplished by examination of the mother's vital signs, her blood pressure, heart rate, weight, urinalysis and necessary blood work at the appropriate times.  The health of the fetus is assessed by determining appropriate growth, heart rate and reactivity of fetus' heart rate and movements.  The fetal position and weight estimation is also ascertained. 
• Handouts and prenatal information regarding: nutrition, anemia, bladder infection, fetal development, birth supply list and care of the newborn, breast feeding, postpartum care and instructions for mamma are a few of the subjects covered.  All of these subjects and many others are discussed in depth during the prenatal period.

Services and Fees

Home Sweet Home Birth offers both homebirth and birth center birth options.  Waterbirth is a specialty of the midwives.  We provide portable birthing pools for homebirths.

Prenatal visits are made to all clients every 3 weeks, with every other visit made at the center.  The alternate visits are made at the home of the client unless other arrangements are made.  Two visits are made at 33 and 35 weeks, then weekly until the birth of the baby.  Postpartum visits are made everyday for the first 5 days of the baby’s life, then 1 week, 2 or 3 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks.  A well woman examination including a pap test is provided between 8 and 12 weeks postpartum.

The fee for a homebirth is $3,000.00.  This includes all of the above visits and the labor and birth.  Ultrasound fees are not included, nor are vitamins or laboratory tests.

The fee for a birth center birth is $4,100.00.  This includes all of the above previously listed, plus a 24-36 hour stay at the center after the birth.

We accept all types of insurance and OHP’s DMAP (open card).

A 5% discount is offered for payment in full before 38 weeks.
