When practicing yoga, the focus is on your body's need for muscle stretching, toning, and movement, and the human need for serenity and joy, to help you throughout your life.

I encourage you to practice yoga as a vehicle for inner strength, balance, and flexibility, as well as connection with yourself, the infinite magnificent spirit within and all around you.

As a holistic midwife and yoga teacher, I will be your very own personal yoga coach!

During your classes, which are 75 minutes each, the focus will be on guiding you through specific yoga postures, breathwork, meditative and visualization techniques. The atmosphere of your classes will help in self discovery and personal growth.

You can choose in-person private, small group or Skype sessions. You can even invite some friends over and split the cost of a small group yoga class! Or you can use Anne's studio in Nyack, NY for your class. These classes are ideal for those who can't get to or don't want to go to studio classes, but like the personal guidance, assistance, and more personal connection with a yoga teacher not available with online or DVD classes. I will travel up to 45 minutes from my studio in Nyack, NY. I also teach yoga in my retreats - check out the upcoming events here.

The specific yogic modalities that are taught encompass Nosara Vinyasa, Hatha, Iyengar, Anusara and restorative yoga. I love questions! Please feel free to ask yours after your class while you are still on your 'Yoga High!'

Classes include access to closed Home Sweet Homebirth Support Group and Community on Facebook if you are a mom or planning to be one.

Pregnancy Yoga

"Thank you for your guidance and education. Your teachings will be put to great use to get us through this magical experience! We will definitely keep in touch for some postpartum yoga perhaps at one of our homes."

-Marissa W

"I really appreciate all I learned from you and how much easier you made it for me to get through this time more calmly and comfortably! On those weeks I missed class I felt so much more sore and stiff compared to the weeks I went to yoga, it made me realize what a huge difference your teaching made in my life! I had no idea I could still be this flexible even in the third trimester. The pregnancy and labor tips you gave us before and after class were also really useful, and practicing labor positions made me feel more confident about giving birth and handling labor pains. Thak you for everything."

- Linda G.

Yoga during pregnancy can prevent and ease many pregnancy related discomforts.

Regular yoga practice has been shown to increase stamina and endurance. It creates space, strength, agility and stamina for active natural birthing.

During your classes, you will learn breathing, visualization, and meditative techniques for creating inner calm and focus, and tools to cope with the sensations of labor and birth.

In our modern world, many pregnant women are bombarded with external stress. Your yoga classes will help you relax and connect with yourself and your baby.

Women who practice yoga throughout their pregnancies report easier labors and smoother postpartum recoveries.

Yoga practice gives baby the delicious biochemical hormones and feelings of relaxation, relieving the toxic effects of inner stress and angst.

Yoga during pregnancy improves neurodevelopment in the womb, newborn, and even into early childhood, which positively enhances the mental and emotional health of future generations.

Regular yoga practice prepares you for an empowered pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. This leads to optimum health and well-being throughout your childbirth journey and beyond.

The prenatal yoga classes include mindful Hatha, Iyengar and Restorative practices. They are available on Skype,  or in-person private or small group classes in your home or my cozy studio in Nyack, NY.  They are ideal for mamas who don't want or can't get to a yoga studio class, and would love more individualized assistance, guidance, and an intimate connection with a teacher not available on DVD or online classes. It is like having your own personal midwife -yoga coach!

"I'm so, so, so incredibly grateful that I was able to have all the sessions with you that I've had so far. All of our work has truly added to my ability to feel comfortable and more confident (dare I even say sexy?!) going into labor and birth. I'm sure people say this all the time but because you have such conviction and can just "be" you, it puts people like me at ease, allows me to explore my own boundary lines a little more without fear of looking or sounding silly. This has been so comforting and empowering.. It seems clear to me that you like that level of personalization to a class and it's been a unique approach that I feel like I've benefited from. I really appreciate and value all you've done for me!"

- Shirin S.

"I wanted to thank you so much. I enjoyed the prenatal yoga classes so much and they really helped me in labor especially with the deep breathing and helping me be in the right mind set. Thanks so much again"

- Arielle N.

"I very much enjoyed all of the yoga sessions and feel they have really helped me in my pregnancy. I practice the breathing regularly and often try the different yoga positions to relieve stress and help strengthen my muscles. I have recommended prenatal yoga to many of my friends on account of these lessons. I would definitely be interested in postnatal classes. Thanks so much again!"

Postpartum Mommy and Me Yoga

Yoga post birth helps you to improve your physical and emotional health through this beautiful rite of passage that is motherhood. Being a new mom is a big life transition, which brings much joy but, can be challenging, and you deserve much loving support.

Postpartum yoga helps to restore abdominal muscle tone, perineal and vaginal muscles, and pelvic stability. Postpartum yoga helps to alleviate common upper back and neck strain often caused by slumped or misaligned postures from breastfeeding and carrying your baby.

Yoga postpartum helps you tap into your inner calm and equilibrium, bringing you emotional balance for some of the common stresses of new motherhood.

Yoga actually can recharge your batteries and give you energy, which helps with postpartum fatigue. It can also help you sleep better when you do have the opportunity.

Postpartum yoga can incorporate your baby or can be done while baby is at your side. It is a lovely way to connect and bond, as well as give you some techniques to calm and comfort your baby when upset or fussy.
