- Birth Professional Questions
"This Is Not My First Baby"
Q: This is my second baby, and first home birth, will the info still be helpful?
A: The information is absolutely helpful to any pregnant woman, but especially if this is a first home birth.
Q: Can I use the course as a refresher for my third baby, as I have taken other childbirth ed before?
A: Absolutely. This is a course like no other. It will teach and help you in so many ways - in the unique inspiring and uplifting way I guide the families in my holistic midwifery practice, unlike other childbirth classes. Any mama, regardless of how many babies she has, will learn, grow and benefit immensely from the course.
Q: I am interested in your course. With my first baby I had an epidural and all the standard interventions. I was happy with my care and had a vaginal birth, but I am pregnant with my second, and want to give birth naturally now with my OB in the hospital. Can you tell me how your course can help me?
A: Absolutely. This course is perfect for you, as you are planning a natural birth and did not experience that the first time. This course will empower you with what you need to know to ROCK your natural pregnancy, birth and life beyond.
Q: I feel so broken from my last horrible birth experience, I am pregnant again and I am afraid it will affect my labor this time. Does your course help with that?
A: The course focuses a lot on preparing your mind, body, heart and spirit and how to work on aligning them all to have the most beautiful and healthy birth. If you feel you need more one-on-one attention to work through things like previous birth trauma, I also offer a package that includes an online consultation through Skype or FaceTime. It is one of my passions and areas of expertise to help mamas process and heal from previous upsetting births and plan for a much better and tremendously healing experience next time around.
Q: I've had two babies but my partner is a first time parent and I'm kind of wanting him to go through a birth class with me (I'm carrying the baby but he doesn't exactly know what to expect). Would this be a good course for us?
A: Absolutely. It is a wonderful refresher for you, unique to any course you have ever taken, giving you knowledge and skills for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and life as a mom of three, taught by me, a holistic midwife who has helped thousands of women over two decades - I basically lead you through my visits from pregnancy to postpartum. It is so important for you and your partner that you are involved together. It can not only help your partner learn about what is going on to best help you and himself during this special time of growing, and birthing and becoming parents to this new baby, but also it will open up discussion around all the topics, help him to be involved and included, and deepen the relationship between you during this special time.
"This Is My First Baby or First Vaginal Birth"
Q: Do you have any advice on how to have is pure a Hospital birth as possible?
A: Absolutely. That is a HUGE component of the course - to give you the information and skills to have a completely undisturbed, well supported and beautiful birth experience in the hospital, in any setting, whatever interventions are needed. I actually cover in my online course - how to have a homebirth like experience in the hospital. It takes preparation and planning but is so doable. I also consult with mama's individually - which just I love doing. The course can also be bundled with a consultation with me if you need more personalized guidance.
Q: Is this is just for moms birthing at home?:)
A: It is for all moms wherever they birth. It is not at all exclusive to homebirth.
Q: I am planning a VBAC - would this course apply to me?
A: Absolutely and it is especially for you. It will give you the information, sense of empowerment and confidence, needed preparation and support, as well as the tools to ROCK your VBAC. There is also a package that includes a one-on-one consultation with me, which you may find so helpful, as women who have had previous cesarean planning to birth vaginally benefit tremendously from some extra personalized counseling and guidance.
Q: This is my first baby. I already took a hospital class and all they focused on was epidurals and cesarean and did not give me anything on how to have a natural birth. I’m looking for a doula! But I think taking this course will help? I sat down with my Dr. and requested that my choices of having the most natural birth at the hospital be respected. Her reaction was " well why do you want this? It's hard when you have to be in bed and not have space to walk ". She had an annoyed face. So I dropped my knowledge even though I was sure she knew what a natural birth is. Any recommendations?
A: Oh mama, you must take this course, especially since it is your first baby, with a doctor like that, and having gotten nothing you needed from the hospital course you took. Based on what you are telling me, I feel concerned about preventing the cascade of interventions leading to an unnecessary cesarean, and all the sequela for future pregnancies. My course is based on my helping thousands of women give birth naturally over two decades, and loving their birth experience despite any challenges they face. I teach you how to have the most healthy pregnancy from a mind, body, heart and spirit approach. You will learn about what is happening to you physically and emotionally during labor and birth - changes that you have never experienced before, how to feel confident, empowered and tap into your own strength, and capacities as a women, and to really love your experience. I give you tools and skills to practice and develop in your pregnancy so they become habitual and you can more easily use them in labor and any life challenge as a new mom. I teach you how to prepare in pregnancy for the most supported postpartum possible, which is so needed in modern times with many women so alone and without a community to help. It takes a village to raise a new mom and baby. I teach you all about caring for your newborn and breastfeeding so you can ROCK your peak life transformative experience as becoming a new mom. You have options. You came to the right place. It is my passion and area of expertise to help mamas like you prepare to have the birth they want. The course will be a huge help but if you need more personal attention we must talk; I also have a package that includes an online consult with me. It would be the most important gift you gave yourself, and at the very least take the course.
Q: Does the course include what to do if your water breaks but you don't go in labor or start contractions? And what happens if contractions start but slow and then stop?
A: Those are great questions and depend on each mama's particular situation. My course covers these topics, but personal questions, and ones that require more individualized in depth discussion and guidance, to really best help a mama, I offer online consulting. I hope that helps!
General Course Questions
Q: Does this course have anything to do with hypnobirthing?
A: Although it mentions it, the course doesn't specifically teach hypnobirthing, it does provide you with many meditative, breathing, and visualization techniques for relaxation and coping with labor and life. It is the perfect adjunct to hypnobirthing and covers many essential components to help you through this incredibly transformative journey through pregnancy to birth and becoming a new mama that are not covered in a hypnobirthing class.
Q: Would your course be the replacement of a doula? I ask because I'm on a budget looking for a doula and your course got my attention. Would my husband and I be able to do things ourselves with your training or a doula is still essential? Thanks!
A: My course does not replace a doula - I do feel that both are needed. I think you would be able to manage with your husband and no doula, especially if you have given birth before, if your husband is a huge source of support - the course has a whole section to help partners help mamas - and you also have someone else there, with whom you feel real comfy, who is at ease around birth, to mother you during the process. Also it makes a huge difference if you have a midwife who will labor with you, as most obstetricians do not - and a real supportive birth setting. I don't know anything about you, but some people I feel really need a doula and some do fine without one. I do think doulas are essential for first time mamas without similar doula like family or friend support, mamas birthing with an obstetrician, as well as mamas planning VBAC. I hope this helps!
Q: Not sure what my birth holds for me but now I have lots of fear and anxiety around the event. Will this course help me move past this fear and negative thoughts?
A: Oh I am sorry to hear that. My course will help you deal successfully with fear and negative thoughts as well as empower you with confidence. If you need more personal guidance - one of my passions and areas of expertise is online consulting for the global community, and helping mamas just like you. There is an option with the course that includes a personal consultation with me. I have guided mamas using a variety of awesome tools, powerful meditative and visualization techniques to resolve their fears and negative thoughts.
Q: Do you all offer services for women considered high risk? What do you advise I do for having a history of abnormal pap smears? I really don't want to be induced but I'm afraid I don't have a choice.
A: I do not know the details of your story and why you were labeled high risk (many are labeled high risk when they are really not). You do have a choice. My course helps to empower you to know your options, and to have a voice. What I teach benefits all mamas as it includes such topics as having the healthiest pregnancy possible - of your mind/body/heart and spirit, tools to help you in labor and birth no matter what interventions are needed, tips for your partner and ways your partner can best help you, and how to best deal with and prepare for postpartum, newborn care and breastfeeding. It also has an option that includes a one on one consultation with me if you need more personal guidance with your particular issues. I just love helping mamas and have expanded my local practice to counseling mamas all over the world. I have opened time in my schedule to do online consultations for the global community, and provide my holistic nurse midwifery expertise to mamas who do not have that available in their locality. Also there are things you can do for your specific issues you are concerned about, but to best advise you, this requires a discussion. I look forward to helping you!
Q: I would take it if there is accessible to captioning or anything to accommodate deaf.
A: Awwwww - mama! I wish I did that and had the funds to create it! My daughter is fluent in sign language and could have helped! You are welcome to find someone to do it for me and those mamas who need! This is so important!
Time Related Questions
Q: How long does the course last or do you just go through at your own pace?
A: You can go at your own pace and can work through it whatever order and timeline you please. There are 10 videos that are on average 1 hour long and a good amount of links to helpful resources and downloads. As It is a course that is so comprehensive, I advise taking it slow so you can digest it all, enable real incredible shifts in your mindset and well-being to happen, and practice the techniques so you can easily tap into them when you need to in labor and life as a mama.
Q: How many weeks is the course?
A: You can take it at your own pace, there are 10 videos on average about an hour long each, with links to great resources, a course workbook, and many other downloads. It is ideal to start while planning a pregnancy. If you, like most mamas, discover it when already pregnant, give yourself several months to take it, starting as early as you can, then reviewing it throughout your journey. But if you do not have the time, or you are in your third trimester, a faster pace is certainly doable.
Q: I'm short on time can some modules be skipped or can the entire course be completed quickly?
A: It is ideal to take the course it its entirety, to get the most benefit. You are of course free to skip modules, and just take those you want or have time for, but you can take the whole thing quickly in just a few days if you need and can sit for that long.
Q: Can I take course from UK?
A: The course is online and available globally.
Q: Is there a specific start date or can you do it anytime? Not pregnant but would love to do this once I am!
A: I think it is wonderful to start anytime preconception if you are planning a pregnancy. It is a perfect time to enhance your health and wellbeing, and my course teaches you how. In addition to learning about and preparing for how to ROCK your birth and life as a new mom, I teach wholesome healthy life skills from healthy eating and supplements, to recommended exercise, to how to reduce inner stress and live from a place of deep joy - so you will be well prepared to welcome your new pregnancy from a mind, body, heart and soul perspective.
